My interest in being a teacher arose from my desire to help others achieve and rise to their potential. I believe that every child has the right to a quality education, and my greatest concern is for students who, due to social, economic, and cultural barriers, feel cut off from the benefits of education and thus, feel defeated. I believe teaching is about opening the doors of possibilities for these, and all, students. I chose to teach English because I love how literature continuously opens my eyes to new perspectives and the diversity that permeates the world. Teaching English is an opportunity to expose students to this vastly eclectic world, from which we can learn so much about ourselves and the world around us. I am inspired by, and strive to nurture, diversity.

In an effort to facilitate learning and inspire students to freely explore themselves and the world through literature and writing, I hope to create a safe, challenging, and enthusiastic classroom environment.

My greatest hope is that I can foster empowerment within my students, inspiring them to believe in their own potential and encouraging them to believe that anything is possible. My greatest fear is that I will a boring teacher, incapable of connecting with and engaging my students.
