Focus: Secondary Social Studies
Placement: New Kent Middle School, 6th Grade U.S. History

I have always been interested in history and teaching. I spent my first year out of college teaching history at a British boarding school; however, while working in international relations for 4 years after that, I was shocked to read reports about how globally illiterate U.S. students are. I knew that I had to get back into education. I hope to create a classroom that inspires students to learn about other countries, cultures, and ways of thinking. I want to educate global citizens who are open-minded and tolerant and who can use critical thinking skills to analyze the problems that our world faces.
