Social studies is my teaching background. Specifically, I taught U.S. and World History at Roncalli High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.

I became interested in teaching both because of very inspiring (and some not so inspiring) teachers I had in high school. I was always interested in both English and history and decided that teaching would be a way for me to share my love of the subject areas with others. Over time, I really grew to enjoy working with high school students - particularly those students who tended to struggle, for whatever reason, in their school work. While it was a lot of work and often stressful, when I look back to my years of high school teaching, I have very fond memories of that time in my life.

I'm an excellent thumb wrestler. In fact, I have NEVER been defeated. I attribute my success to a lethal combination of strength, agility, and thumb wrestling savvy.

My biggest hope in my teaching is that I can ignite a passion in my students for learning and growing. My biggest fear is that I will lose my connection with the reality of teaching in today's classrooms.
