Quia quizzes

Quia is a database of quizzes, assessment activities, and games that students can access for free to gain more practice in their content area, or to complete specific activities assigned to them by their teachers. The site features an "Instructor Zone" where teachers can upload quizzes and games that they have created, and a "Student Zone" where students can interact with the material. Each user must create a log-in to access information on the site; this log-in is free for students, but teachers must subscribe to the service. This subscription is free for the first thirty days. Quia advertises the ability to create sixteen different types of "learning activities," give Web-based quizzes that the computer grades for you, compile reports of your students' performance, and build a professional-looking Web page for your class. There are a good number of benefits to a subscription , which costs $49/year. The site also has an extensive FAQ page .

Though you must be a member to upload material and organize a site for your class, anyone can search for the Web activities to get an idea of what others have done in the past. There is also a page of shared activities available for anyone to use. Another way to get an idea for what is available on the site is to use the advanced search function to search for activities by type, category, or subcategory. You cannot search by grade level.
